Add to Calendar 2016-03-18 21:30 2016-03-18 Ithamara Koorax & João Palma Trio at Beco Das Garrafas Legendary Brazilian drummer Joao Palma invites singer Ithamara Koorax to appear as special guest with his trio. Koorax & Palma have often performed together since 1996, and the drummer has recorded in many of her albums, such as Love Dance, Koorax Sings Getz/Gilberto, All Around The World and The Best Of Ithamara Koorax.
A founding member of Sergio Mendes' Brazil 66 group, with whom he recorded the original version of the hit "Mas Que Nada", Palma later joined Walter Wanderley's band and became Antonio Carlos Jobim's drummer from 1969 to 1977, recording on such acclaimed albums as Tide, Stone Flower, Jobim - Waters Of March (Matita Pere) and Urubu.
He lived in the USA from 1965 to 1980, appearing on albums by Frank Sinatra (Sinatra & Company), Astrud Gilberto & Stanley Turrentine (Gilberto with Turrentine), Michael Franks (Sleeping Gypsy), Paul Desmond (Bridge Over Troubled Water), Luiz Henrique (Mestiço) and many more.
Koorax has released 20 albums as a leader for such labels as Milestone, JSR, JVC and EMI, and recorded with Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luiz Bonfa, Larry Coryell, John McLaughlin, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Jay Berliner, Jurgen Friedrich, Sadao Watanabe, Marcos Valle, Eumir Deodato, Joao Donato, Laudir de Oliveira, Dom Um Romao, Jadir de Castro, Eloir de Moraes, Mario Castro-Neves and Azymuth.
